2018 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS)

As in previous years, we will again be offering all students from Year 3 to Year 6 the opportunity to participate in the tests. This year the tests are offered in Digital Technologies, Science, English, Writing, Mathematics and Spelling. 3-Way Conferences

Our annual 3-Way Conferences will be held in Week 10 of Term 1 during allocated times before, during and after school. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss your child's learning progress and goals for 2018 with all stakeholders: parents, teachers and students. To facilitate the booking of the meetings we will be using the School Interviews website. EdWeek 2018 - theme and dates announced

This year's Education Week will be held from Monday 6 August to Friday 10 August 2018 (Term 3, Week 3). The theme for Education Week is ‘Today's schools – creating tomorrow's world'. This theme communicates how NSW public schools are equipping young people with the skills and capabilities they need to thrive in a rapidly changing, globalised world. 2018 Resource Allocation Model funding

In October 2017, all NSW public schools will receive a 2018 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. NDIS continues its roll out across NSW

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) started in NSW in July 2016, rolling out across half of the state. The rollout for the rest of NSW started on 1 July 2017 and the NDIS will be fully rolled out by mid 2018. The NSW government is writing to the families of children and young people with disability who currently receive disability supports in the rollout areas to advise how and when they will enter the NDIS. EDUCATION WEEK @ GPS: We would like to extend an invitation to all parents/carers and family members to join us in classrooms on Monday 14th August between 10am – 11am for our Education Week. NAPLAN Online School readiness test

NSW schools will participate in the NAPLAN Online School Readiness Test from 14 August to 22 September. There is a lot of information for schools, students and parents on the NAPLAN Online transition website. The school readiness test is a ‘practice run' for schools to assess their technology as we prepare to transition to NAPLAN Online. It provides an opportunity for schools to become familiar with the NAPLAN Online assessment platform but is not an assessment of student ability.... Read more

94.9 Power FM Breakfast

We are in for a special start to our day next Thursday 27th July from 7am to 9am when 94.9 Power FM will be broadcasting from our school. Breakfast will be provided (cereal, fruit and toast) and some fun activities. Superheroes will be everywhere! To create a sense of fun, we encourage kids, teachers and even parents to dress up in their favourite Superhero, Disney, movie or TV character costume. Healthy School Canteens

Introducing Healthy School Canteens

The introduction of the revised Healthy School Canteen Strategy increases the availability of healthy food and drink options in school canteens to make the healthy choice, the easy choice. It replaces the Fresh Tastes@School Strategy in NSW schools that was commonly known as the traffic light system. The revised strategy is consistent with the 2013 Australian Dietary Guidelines and classifies food and drinks as either Everyday or Occasional. Sugary drinks will continue not to be sold.
